Relive Your Hunts with a Turkey Hooker Fan Mount

There are countless ways to mount a tail fan, but Skull Hooker's Turkey Hooker fan mount makes it easy.

Just like countless other hunters out there, I savor the meat in my freezer more than any other payoff of a successful hunt. But, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy being able to relive a hunt each time I walk past and see the turkey fans or shoulder mounts strewn across my home.

In fact, there have even been occasions when visitors have made comment on one of the taxidermy pieces I have displayed sparking up stories of where I went hunting, the meals the animal provided and maybe even chatting about the lasting friendships that came from the trip.

This past spring, I enjoyed one of these fantastic hunting adventures with new friends in “Big Sky Country” and came home with a YETI Hopper full of meat as well as a gorgeous white-tipped Merriam’s turkey fan, beard and spurs.

And, thanks to the Turkey Hooker turkey fan mount from Skull Hooker, they are now hanging in my home.

Skull Hooker, well known for their European skull mounting kits that are incredibly sturdy and adjustable, and have a powder-coated finish gives the wall plaque a sleek and modern look. Their new Turkey Hooker is no different. In addition, with it ringing in at an MSRP of just $39.99, it is quite comparable to other turkey fan mounting options out there. However, I have yet to find the adjustability offered by the Turkey Hooker fan mount in the vast majority of other turkey plaques on the market.

(Note - Before you get started mounting your fan, you’ll want to have it cleaned, pinned and dried. You can take it to a taxidermist to have this done, or you can do it yourself following these instructions.)

Once your fan is ready dried and ready to go, mounting the Turkey Hooker is incredibly simple. Directions are on the side of the product box, but it really can be boiled down to just these four steps.

  1. Mount the wall plaque to a stud in the desired location of your home.
  2. Assemble the turkey tray connector to the mounting arm.
  3. Place your fan in the turkey tray and secure it pushing in all three tabs on the back of the tray.*
  4. Place the mounting arm onto the wall plaque

(*The turkey fan tray has three holes on the bottom. I chose to use just the center one for my turkey’s beard, but all three are suitable for beards of the same subspecies or to secure the turkey’s legs and beard giving your mount a unique look.)

The turkey fan tray is compatible with other Skull Hooker products. An entire wild turkey Grand Slam could look fantastic on the Trophy Tree, and the Table Hooker makes it easy to display your fan on a tabletop or bookshelf.

So if you have any extra turkey fans around your house, give the Turkey Hooker a look and I believe you’ll be pleased with the outcome.
