Launched in May of 2023, the Wild Turkey Lab aims to bring research to the real world through practical conversation.
“The Wild Turkey Lab is dedicated to providing content about current and historical wild turkey science as a means to improve management and conservation of wild turkeys,” Chamberlain said. “The partnership with the NWTF is a natural fit as the mission of the Wild Turkey Lab goes hand in hand with the mission of the NWTF.”
Visitors to the Wild Turkey Lab website can browse the homepage for featured content, such as Chamberlain’s appearance on the MeatEater Podcast, long-format films and Chamberlain’s #Turkeytuesday blog posts. Webpage users can even read through the research summaries and associated white papers on an extensive log of wild turkey research, or access a catalog of podcasts and articles that are sure to spark the interest of any turkey enthusiast.
“We are extremely excited to partner with Dr. Chamberlain and the Wild Turkey Lab,” said Hatfield. “With a heightened interest in wild turkey research from the hunting community and beyond, it is important that we work to ensure access to information is as easy as it can be. The Wild Turkey Lab makes that possible, and we are proud to support this effort.”
The NWTF has and always will be invested in wild turkey research and aims to help contribute to Wild Turkey Lab through the continued funding of wild turkey research, raising awareness of the need for the next generation of wild turkey researchers and providing historical research works from Wild Turkey Symposiums and the early years of the NWTF.
