“We are proud to continue our support of National Hunting and Fishing Day,” said Mandy Harling, NWTF national director of Education and Outreach Programs. “National Hunting and Fishing Day is an opportunity for us to come together as hunter-conservationists and bring awareness to the importance of hunting to conservation and to introduce people to the outdoors. With participation declining, it’s more important than ever that we work to preserve our hunting heritage.”

On the fourth Saturday of every September, NHFD brings awareness to the integral role of hunters and anglers and their contribution to conserving our nation’s natural resources. One of the main goals of NHFD is to recruit new hunters and anglers by encouraging participation in hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities designed to drive conservation. NWTF members and chapters across the country are inviting someone new to join them in the outdoors in honor of NHFD.

Additionally, NHFD is providing individuals the opportunity to be eligible for a product giveaway for taking someone hunting, fishing, or to enjoy any other outdoor activity. Learn more.

NHFD is the final day of the NWTF’s Conservation Week, an annual event that, similarly, is designed to bring awareness and emphasis to the organization’s national conservation mission and the critical role hunters play in creating Healthy Habitats and Health Harvests.

Throughout the NWTF’s 2023 Conservation Week, the organization will highlight its conservation accomplishments, organizational milestones and ongoing initiatives. Like NHFD, the NWTF is challenging its members, volunteers, staff and partners to use its 2023 Conservation Week, Sept. 17-22, to help promote conservation efforts and educate others on the importance of hunting and conservation. Learn more. The NWTF is proud to have introduced over a million individuals to the joys of outdoor pursuits through its various Education and Outreach Programs.

About the National Wild Turkey Federation

Since 1973, the National Wild Turkey Federation has invested over half a billion dollars into conservation and conserved or enhanced over 22 million acres of critical wildlife habitat. The organization continues to drive wildlife conservation, forest resiliency and robust recreational opportunities throughout the U.S. by working across boundaries on a landscape scale.

2023 is the NWTF's 50th Anniversary and an opportunity to propel its mission into the future while honoring its rich history. For its 50th Anniversary, the NWTF has set six ambitious goals: positively impact 1 million acres of wildlife habitat; raise $500,000 for wild turkey research; increase membership to 250,000 members; dedicate $1 million to education and outreach programs; raise $5 million to invest in technology and NWTF's people; and raise $5 million to build toward a $50 million endowment for the future. Learn how you can help us reach these lofty goals.
