Sleeper has been appointed Deputy Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment. Schultz has been appointed Chief of Staff for Natural Resources and Environment. Both roles are essential to the success of NWTF initiatives.

The Deputy Under Secretary for Natural Resources and Environment is responsible for the conservation of our national forests and the sustainable production of forest goods. They also oversee the U.S. Forest Service and Natural Resource Conservation Service. The Chief of Staff of Natural Resources and Environment oversees the agency’s management and strategy.

“Kristin and Tom have worked with NWTF in the past, and both are friends to the organization,” NWTF co-CEO Kurt Dyroff said. “Both are familiar with our philosophies and have supported our organization in our forest management, wildfire prevention and conservation goals. We look forward to working with Kristin and Tom in their new roles at USDA.”

In her previous role with the House Agriculture Committee, Kristin was deeply involved in the development of the farm bill, and Tom was engaged in promoting active forest management and ensuring the sustainability of forestry infrastructure and rural jobs in his role with the Idaho Forest Group. NWTF is excited to have such experienced people in these positions and congratulate President Trump on his excellent choices.
