“I commend our volunteer leadership for working so hard to raise these funds to continue our mission in Nebraska,” said Annie Farrell, NWTF district biologist. “These volunteers are our boots on the ground that put their hard-earned dollars back on the landscape towards critical projects that will greatly impact the wild turkey and our hunting heritage in the Cornhusker state.”

These following projects include conservation projects and projects that support education and outreach, volunteer development and hunter access efforts in Nebraska. Funding includes:

  • $7,000 to support the NWTF’s Waterways for Wildlife Initiative.
  • $5,250 to support invasive species removal on Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's Wildlife Management Areas.
  • $4,150 to support the National Archery in the Schools Program in Nebraska.
  • $7,163 to support local 4-H groups, including Blue River Archers 4-H, Cass County Clovers 4-H, Cherry County 4-H, Homestead 4-H, Pound Middle School Archery and Washington County 4-H.
  • $1,050 to support NWTF JAKES events.
  • $6,000 for outreach, education and volunteer travel to NWTF convention.
  • $4,509 for miscellaneous expenses.

The NWTF’s Hunting Heritage Super Fund is a decades-long funding program well-known throughout the country as a conservation powerhouse. Created in the NWTF’s formative years, the Super Fund is a volunteer-driven program. The model begins and ends with the organization’s backbone – NWTF volunteers in every state raise money at banquets and other types of fundraisers and then allocate a significant portion of those funds back into meaningful conservation and outreach projects in their respective states and beyond. It’s a picture-perfect example of how the NWTF truly operates as a national federation
