50 years. Who would have thought that on this exact day 50 years ago, one of the most distinguished conservation organizations in the country would be born? The National Wild Tukey Federation rose from the vision of our founder Tom Rodgers after he witnessed the struggles wild turkeys faced in his home state of Virginia and across the country. He founded an organization with a lasting mission: conserve the wild turkey and preserve our hunting heritage.
50 years later, we have a rich history delivering that mission, which has given way to some impressive milestones – huntable populations of wild turkeys in 49 states, 22 million acres of wildlife habitat conserved or enhanced, millions of new hunters recruited and a legacy to build upon for the next 50 years.
None of this would be possible were it not for the people who make the NWTF so extraordinary. Whether you are a volunteer, partner, proud member, or staff, it is thanks to you and your passion that everyone is able to enjoy hunting and a variety of other outdoor activities each year.
We hope you have an incredible spring, filled with laughter with loved ones, and your soul is renewed again by the gobble of America’s greatest game bird. We are endlessly thankful for your commitment to the NWTF.
Yours in Conservation,
