Hosted at the Escondido Fish and Game Association in San Diego County, about 85 children participated in this year’s festivities, making it a memorable day filled with excitement and learning.

Children were divided into groups and rotated through a variety of stations throughout the day, each offering a unique outdoor activity. The stations included axe throwing, archery, black powder shooting, rifle shooting, shotgun/clay shooting, BB gun shooting and turkey biology. These activities provided the youth with hands-on experiences and an opportunity to learn new skills in a safe and supervised environment.

The event, known as "Jakes Day at the Range," has become a beloved tradition, allowing young outdoor enthusiasts to engage in free activities. Each participant received a complimentary lunch and a T-shirt as part of their involvement in the day’s events.

“It was a great opportunity to give the kids a chance to get out and learn while having fun,” said Dave Flesner, San Diego Chapter president. “It was a very interactive and enjoyable time for them to experience different range activities. Also, a special thanks goes out to the Escondido Fish and Game Association for hosting us at their range.”
